What is Shockwave?

Shockwave was originally developed for the medical sector 20 years ago to break down kidney and gallstones. One of the noticed side effects was accelerated tissue healing and increased bone density. Shockwave was then developed for rehabilitation of chronic painful conditions with an emphasis on tissue healing.

Shockwave treatment for physiotherapy is non-invasive in which it stimulates the immune system through acoustic waves (sound waves). It and has been recognized as a very successful therapy  in the treatment of many different chronic painful conditions.

Side effects from shockwave can include post treatment soreness, redness, swelling. These are temporary effects which usually last 2-5 days.

How many treatments do I need?

Typically you will need 3-8 treatment sessions, once/week for shockwave. Please note sessions for other physiotherapy treatments may also be necessary.
